As a young child, Dr. Kelly wanted to be a doctor, and when a plastic surgeon came to speak and show photos to his Boy Scout troop, he knew what his specialty would be. So he studied art, won statewide art shows throughout high school and college, and was mentored by the plastic surgeon he’d met as a young scout.
He graduated at the top of his class with Bachelor’s degrees from BYU and the University of Michigan, a Master’s with honors in Physical Therapy from the University of Michigan and earned his medical degree at Wayne State University. After General Surgery training at Providence Hospital in Southfield, he remained for a fellowship at its Institute for Craniofacial and Reconstructive Surgery with world renowned Plastic Surgeon, Ian T. Jackson. He completed an ACGME-accredited Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery residency at the Detroit Medical Center, and a fellowship at Michigan Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery in Southfield. He is a Diplomat of the American Association of Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine.
Dr. Kelly has published over 20 journal articles and made over 50 presentations, including to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the European Association of Plastic Surgeons and the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons. He was recently an invited speaker at the North American Skull Base Society on Facial Nerve Paralysis and Rehabilitation.
He earned Eagle Scout rank, as well as three Eagle Palms and the Arrow of Light Award. He has been married to Jennifer for 24 years, and enjoys art, racquetball, swimming, reading and the movies. He is excited to be a part of he central Utah health community.
