JOB DESCRIPTION:  Radiology Clerk

Department: Radiology Clerk

Reports To: Radiology Manager


A Radiologic Clerk is responsible for secretarial and clerical duties in support of the Radiology department.   Acts as an advocate for the hospital in their respective communities and adhere to the hospital Mission, Vision, Values and Motto of “The Patient is First in all We Do.”

  • Greets all departmental visitors and screens all incoming phone calls to ensure that accurate and efficient departmental communication is facilitated though positive expedient action.
  • Answers telephone according to hospital policy in a courteous manner expressing a greeting to the caller and identify self and department.
  • Assists callers or department visitors in any way possible, routing to appropriate personnel within department.
  • Maintains complete and accurate telephone message for department personnel ensuring accurate routing of messages.
  • Maintains schedules an appointments for department to ensure efficient utilization of resources.
  • Completes all registration processes for incoming radiology patients.
  • Completes all radiology pre-authorizations
  • Follows hospital policies and Behavioral Standards.  Reports safety hazards immediately.  Completes an “incident report” at the time of the incident and submits to Radiology manager. 
  • Demonstrates a spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm in order to create a team atmosphere conducive to self-improvement and agency growth. Performs other duties as assigned by the director, participating in specialty teams and agency programs.
  • Demonstrates patience and tact when dealing with patients, family and other staff members, conveying a sense of caring and dignity.
  • Demonstrates a sense of responsibility and moral integrity, acting as self-starter who works independently and who consistently finds ways to improve their own job and hospital operations as part of the health care team.
  • Assumes responsibility for knowing agency policy and expectations.
  • Must comply with HIPPA and keep home care / hospital confidentiality.
  • Must attend yearly OSHA training and yearly flu vaccination.


Required Job Qualifications include:

  • High School Diploma


While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to frequently carry, climb, hear/listen, lift, reach and manipulate objects, tools, or equipment, push/pull, see, speak, squat/kneel, stand, and walk.  Position requires moving materials weighing 10 – 30 pounds, and 30 – 50 pounds on an occasional basis.  Manual dexterity and coordination are required over 90% of the work period.  Work involves the potential for exposure to infection.  The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
