Reports to: Maintenance Manager and Hospital Administrator

Summary: The maintenance worker assists the GVH maintenance department with campus grounds care, wintertime snow and ice removal and miscellaneous projects.  The position does not require specific skills other than the basic elements of grounds care (e.g. operation of a lawn mower) and ability to learn and remember specific job assignments.

Duties:

  • Assist in up keeping all hospital building grounds including: mowing and edging lawns, maintaining flower beds, raking leaves, fertilizing grass, spraying for insects, sprinkler maintenance, sweeping driveways and sidewalks, planning and replacing plants, picking up trash around ground maintenance as assigned or requested.
  • Assist in up keep of hospital facility including: painting, electrical, plumbing, and general repairs.
  • Assist with miscellaneous projects that require moving items or basic labor assistance.
  • Willingness to maintenance issues after hours.
  • Other basic labor duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with grounds care equipment (e.g. lawn mower, edger)
  • General Experience in painting, electrical, plumbing and general repairs

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems in a professional manner
