Gunnison, UT – Gunnison Valley Hospital (GVH) is pleased to announce the addition of two new positions to its Governing Board; one position to represent the Manti/Sterling area and another position to represent the Redmond, Salina, Aurora area. Community members are encouraged to apply and applications are due by Oct 2.
The Hospital’s Board of Directors has had seven members since 1949 when the Hospital was sold by Dr. Ress for $1 to the seven surrounding communities in the Gunnison Valley area. Because Gunnison Valley Hospital now has family clinics in both Manti and Salina, and continues to serve as a main hospital for those towns, the Board felt it appropriate to expand the representation to those communities as well.
“Our hospital serves many communities throughout our area, and it is important that our Governing Board reflects the people and communities we serve,” said Casey Dyreng, GVH Governing Board President. “Adding these positions gives us an opportunity to bring new perspectives to the Board while continuing to make thoughtful decisions about the future of healthcare in our communities.”
GVH is seeking community-minded individuals who are interested in healthcare, community service, and the long-term success of local healthcare.
Applicants do not need to have a healthcare background. Experience in areas such as business, finance, agriculture, education, technology, economic development, legal matters, or community leadership can provide valuable perspectives to the Board.

The new Board members will serve as voting members of the GVH Governing Board and will be appointed by the Governing Board for four-year terms. The Governing Board meets once a month around noon with the meetings lasting typically two to three hours. The Board helps set the strategic mission for the hospital, as well as advise on compliance and quality. They have a direct influence on the culture of the hospital.
Board members are expected to actively support the Hospital’s mission and long-term success by attending and participating in monthly board meetings, ensuring quality care, ensuring fiduciary oversight, approving and monitoring programs and much more.
