Our wide-bore MRI machine not only provides the latest in diagnostic precision but also includes an Ambient Lighting Package—designed to reduce anxiety, improve comfort, and make the entire experience more relaxing. With this technology, patients can expect clearer images, greater diagnostic accuracy, and a much more comfortable exam process.

When your doctor orders diagnostic imaging, you don’t have to travel far. You can have it done right here at Gunnison Valley Hospital using state-of-the-art imaging services. Our systems are connected through a Picture Archival Computer System (PACS), ensuring that results are seamlessly available to your entire care team. Imaging Services We Offer

Computed Tomography (CT) Scan

Our Philips Ingenuity 64-slice CT scanner provides fast, detailed imaging at a low radiation dose. It’s used for abdominal and pelvic pain, head trauma, stroke evaluation, blood clots in the lungs, and other urgent conditions. CT is also ordered for chronic issues such as headaches, sinus disease, cancer evaluation, or fractures. (Requires a doctor’s order and insurance pre-authorization.)

Echocardiogram

Now available locally, echocardiograms provide an in-depth look at the heart’s function, valves, and blood flow. They are often ordered for patients with chest pain, dizziness, fatigue, high blood pressure, a family history of heart disease, or autoimmune disorders. (Requires a doctor’s order and insurance pre-authorization.)

Fluoroscopy & X-Ray

X-rays use small amounts of radiation to capture internal structures, while fluoroscopy is “X-ray in motion,” helping evaluate the digestive tract and joints. (Requires a doctor’s order.)

Mammography

Our state-of-the-art Digital Breast Tomosynthesis Machine (DBT) produces detailed 3D images that allow radiologists to detect cancers earlier and more accurately—with less compression and greater comfort for patients.

  • Screening mammograms: Recommended annually for women age 40+. May be self-ordered.
  • Diagnostic mammograms: For patients with symptoms or follow-up needs. Requires a doctor’s order. All exams are read by a board-certified radiologist, with results sent to your doctor.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Our new MRI wing features a wide-bore machine and patient-friendly Ambient Lighting Package, making exams more comfortable while providing highly detailed images. MRIs are essential for diagnosing neurological, musculoskeletal, and cardiovascular conditions, and soon will include breast, liver, prostate, and small joint imaging. (Requires a doctor’s order and insurance pre-authorization.)

Ultrasound

Performed by RDMS-certified sonographers, we provide abdominal, pelvic, vascular, obstetric, and other ultrasounds.

  • Gender-only ultrasound (16 weeks): $53 self-pay
  • 3D OB imaging (28–32 weeks): $95.25 self-pay (requires prior OB ultrasound at GVH) (Doctor’s order required for all except gender-only and 3D imaging.)

Bone Density & Body Composition (DEXA)

A low-radiation scan of the hip and spine to assess bone density, commonly used for osteoporosis screening and treatment monitoring. DEXA can also measure body composition in just three minutes, helping patients and athletes track fat, lean tissue, and bone distribution. (Bone density requires a doctor’s order. Body composition available for self-pay.)
